In 'The Confession' the chiaroscuro symphony within the photographic ground is exquisite.I quarrel only with your evidence pile of studio studies. I believe if they were a smaller assemblage of grays they would not detract focus and contrast with the male figure at mid-space. The female figure at left fills in the light and dark totality with those exquisite minor touches of reflected light. They need not fight with the mass of the grays. This is where size becomes a bit too forceful. A beautiful composition ! Bill Schulman
Such a great observation/critique on this image. It is my least favorite of the three images and I think your observations have helped me understand the struggle. Thanks Bill.
